Creating and Designing Brochures and publications for business

Brochures are important as marketing tools because they are one of the tangible items that potential customers can feel when it comes to deciding on whether to do business with a company. Brochures create an image of what the company is about and what they offer.

Everything from the design layout, words, imagery, print quality, and even the type of the paper all have an impact on the lasting impression a brochure makes on someone. It can sometimes be the deciding factor on whether or not your business gets the order.

Brochure Design

The Benefits of a Good Brochure Design

A good brochure design will help a company to improve its marketing and brand awareness. One of the main benefits of this is that it helps you to sell your products more easily because it can help establish authority and trust in your potential customer’s mind. A good brochure design can also have a positive impact on your brand awareness.

A well-designed brochure will allow the company to spread their information more easily and, in general, makes it clearer where they stand among the competition.

The quality of a brochure design is going to have an impact on how likely people are going to purchase from a company because it’s not only about the content but also about how engaging it is for respondents.

Easy to distribute

You can have the brochure printed in bulk and then distributed to others via mail or given out at exhibitions.

Cost-effective to produce

You can get a brochure design for a low cost and then print it in high quantities.

Builds trust

Gives the potential customer more insight into the company – this is important for building trust and showing how trustworthy you are as a brand.

It’s important as a company to be seen as an authority in the industry and by doing this you can improve your brand awareness.

Helps to sell products

A good design will facilitate the selling of products and services, which is beneficial for increasing revenue.

Improves brand awareness

Brochures and Publications

Common Brochure Formats

Brochures are divided into different categories that can be printed in a variety of shapes and sizes including:

A4 – 210mm x 297 mm

Popular for corporate brochures and annual reports due to its large surface area and easy viewing on any display device. Some companies prefer the A4 size as it allows for more space to create layouts that can be symmetrical and simple.

A5 – 210mm x 148mm

This is the most popular brochure size and is commonly used by small businesses for their brochures. It is a versatile size and is often used for leaflet door drops or taken to shows as a handout.

Square – 265mm x 265 mm

This is popular with interior design, real estate, and architecture companies who want their designs to be front and centre on the page. Square shapes are still versatile and easy to set out on the page.

DL Pamphlet – 210mm x 99mm

There are three useful ways you could utilise this form from an advertising perspective: as a pocket folder, handout inserts in magazines, or as a flyer. Extremely versatile and economical to print, this is an A4 sheet folded into thirds.

"Brochures and publications are the tangible ambassadors that tell your brand's story in a captivating and immersive way. Treat them as a canvas for creativity, weaving together compelling content, captivating visuals, and intuitive design.

Craft messaging that resonates with your target audience, showcasing the unique value your brand brings to their lives. Embrace a balance between information and aesthetics, ensuring that the layout is visually appealing while effectively conveying key messages. Our Approach

Steps to Designing a Brochure

STEP 1

Research your audience and develop a clear idea of what problems your product solves

One of the first things that you should do is to determine who your target audience is and how your company helps. The more specific or niche your product, service or business is, then the better chance you have of accurately pinpointing their needs and wants to empathise with and offer a solution.

STEP 2

Consider who you are designing for, the tone, and the message

Once you have your audience in mind it’s time to consider the tone and the message that will resonate with them. We invest a significant amount of time in this stage of the brochure design process and we encourage you to do so as it helps you refine your concepts, messages, and overall approach. Now you can write the copy for the brochure (or we can if you’d like us to).

STEP 3

Make the design simple but eye-catching

This is the creative part where we get to have fun and do what designers love most. We’ll work our magic in the design studio and ensure we are complying with your brand guidelines to deliver the perfect brochure.

STEP 4

Include a call to action at the end of each brochure or publication

Rather than leave readers stranded with your information, we’ll include a call to action. This could be in the form of an invitation for a live demonstration or directing your prospects to more in-depth information on your website or YouTube channel.
